Proprietor Nancy Brussat Barocci with her daughter and partner, Candace Barocci Warner
are celebrating 30 years in business with ten days of festivities beginning Thursday,
September 16 to Sunday, September 26.
Candace was only ten when her mother opened Convito. She still remembers the opening
party and the excitement of their Italian guests, her mom's partners Paolo Volpara and
Wanda Bottino.“It was an entirely new adventure”, Brussat Barocci says. “We were babes in
the woods but determined babes”.
Since 1980 the wine and food world has changed a lot. But Convito still strives to keep abreast of those changes. Sun-dried tomatoes and extravirgin olive oils were foreign substances in 1980 - not in the least desirable. Now they are everywhere, in everything - simply ubiquitous. “We constantly search for the next new thing or what we think will interest our customers and make them happy. But we never steer too far from our roots - flavorful, really tasty food served by knowledgeable friendly staff - in both our market and our café.”
