Convito Italiano retires its original building…
and is reborn as Convito Café & Market!
December
31st, 2006,
Convito Italiano in Plaza del Lago, Wilmette will relocate across
the plaza to a new facility formerly occupied solely by it’s
sister restaurant, Betise Bistro. To accommodate this move, Betise
will close on October 1st for renovation and expansion.
Chefs and buyers at both locations are excited about the move and have
been going to extraordinary lengths to develop a new menu and inventory
that builds on a history of quality and style by combining the best of
both Convito and Betise.
The new Convito Market will continue to offer a global selection of prepared
foods, meats, cheeses and groceries as well as breads and sweets. The
wine department will maintain its Italian focus, but will add a boutique
selection of distinctive wines from across the globe.
The Convito Café will feature dishes from both Betise Bistro and
Convito Italiano that best reflect the homey flavors of the French and
Italian countryside. A full bar will serve mixed drinks as well as wines
from Italy, France and beyond. In the warm months of the year, customers
will be able to take advantage of the cool summer breezes from Lake Michigan
while dining in our casually elegant outside café.
The present Convito Italiano location will be open throughout 2006 and
will be featuring frequent tastings, specials and events to celebrate
the “new” Convito.
